This Day. I Before His Honour Mr. Justico Richmond.] APPLICATIONS FOB DISCHARGE. Bobert Walker, carrier, applied for his discharge Mr. R. Butler, butcher, Upper Hutt, opposed the application. Tho Offioial Assignee's report was of a favourable character. The debtor deposed that bin wife, with whom he was not now living, had made a profit of .£l5O out of a land transaction. Ho was not now supporting his wife. It was not a fact that he had borrowed .£2O from John Benge. He sold cattle to Bengo for .£2O. Benge did not take the cattle as eecurity fora loan. T he amouut owing to Mr. Butler (.611) was for meat suplied. During tbo time the dobt was being incurred ho was working at a sawmill near Master ton, getting JE3 a uiontb, and he was now working at a sawmill at Ohan During the past four mouths he had only earned .£l7 l_4s, and could mako no offer. Mr. Butler said he was r.ot prepared to take lbss than 10s in the £. Tho Official Assignee said there was a doubt in biß mind as to tbo genuineness oFthe cattle transaction, but tbe ovidence was that there had been a bonafide salo. Debtor pleaded that be was unable to pay anything, as he had to f-ond something to his wife and family. His Honour granted a diachurge on condition that the debtor consented to judgment being entered np against him for payment of 6s 8d in the £. The learned Judge pointed out that the Official Assignee would arrange as to confession of judgment. Debtor —l really don't know how I am going to pay. Mr. Hadfield appeared in support of an application by Thomas Mullan, railway inspector, for his discharge. As there was no opposition tbo application was granted. Owing to tho Official Assignee bejng unablo to furnish a report, the application of Campbell Colquhonn, builder, was adjourned until next sitting. James Clark, storekeeper, made application for bis discharge. The debtor deposed that he had a wife and family, and could not see his way to make an offer. An unconditional discharge was granted. Patrick O'Shea, ox-publican, applied for an order of discba-go. Tbo Official A ssigneo's report showed that the debtor's position bad beon brought about through an unfortunate connection with a sawmill at Danevirke and an aerated water factory in Wellington As there was no opposition an unconditional order of discharge was granted. John William Wrigley applied for his dipcharge. Mr. Treadwell, wh"> appeared in support of the application, said tho debtor had been brought into the Court through backing bills to Mr. and Mrs. Parkes, lato of the Newtown Hotel. 'Iho debtor said that he had no business, and was not following any occupation. His wife's income uas .£IBO a year. The Offioial Assignee stated that he had ascertained that the husband had no control whatever over tho wife's income His Honour granted an unconditional order of disehargo. There was no opposition to an application for tho discharge of Henry Ernest Walkem, photographer. An order was granted, on condition that the debtor confeseed judgment for 10s in the £ on proved debts. TAXATION OF COSTS. An order was made for tho taxation of solicitor's costs in the estate of J. M. Walter, tobacconist, Wanganui, formerly of Wellington. The Official Assigneo pointed out that the costs wore usually very large, ranging from iS2S to JJ4O, and he expressed regret that an amount could not be fixed. A NAPIER CASK. On tho application of tbe Offioial Assignee his Hononr made an order empowering the Registrar of tbe Supreme Court at Napier to publicly examine H. Naphtali, merchant, a debtor.
