Sin— Visitors and observers are astonished at the neglected state of the city resorves. Instead of deciding what trees are suitable, all kinds of trees aro planted, without reg/ird to their being ablo to thrive. Now, air, as a case in point, you have only to go . along Cambridge-terrace and see the great waste of money that has taken place there. - Will any of your readers give us the - amount ? Why not appoint a curator, who will be held responsible for the reserves, ' have proper trees plaited, the useless ones ' dug up, and see that they are protected, &c. The coat will be nothing to the advantage gained, and the city will soon have a beautiful appearance from the grovca of ornamental trees to be seen in tho Botanical Gardens, Newtown Park, Thorndon Reoreat.on Ground, &c, Ac. I am, &c, S. Stidoli-h.
