AUSTRALASIAN STOCK.
Mr. Hayter baa prepared a return of tho live stock of the Australasian colonies for 1889, as compared with 1880. It is as follows: — Horses, 1,325,797, an increase of 282,662. Tasmania had 29,778, an increase of 4,511; New Zealand, 187,382, an increase of 25,646. Tbe grand total was 1,542,967, an increase of 312,8.19. New South Wales had 420,777, being an increase of 34,793. Cattle : Total, 8,452,200, being a net increase of 1,052,245. Tasmania had 15,004, an increase of 2.817 ; New Zealand, 895,461, an increase of 196,824. New South Wales had 1,741,592, being an increase of 838,448. Grand total, 9,497,665, an increase of 1,271,886. Sheep: 84,212,392, being an increase of 23,822,405. Tasmania had 1,551,429, anincrease of 232,182; Now Zealand, ,15,503,263, an increase of 2,518*, 178. Grand total, 101,265,048, a net increase of 26,108,401. Pigs: Total, 709,923, an increase of 68,709; Tasmania, 58,632, anincrease of 10,603; New Zealand, 369,992, an incrasee of 169,909; grand total, 1,131,547, an increase of 111,803.
