Ono of the most successful sales of Crown lands hold in this district for some time took place to-day. £iddiog was brisk, and a nnmbor of the lots offered realised mnoh above the upset prioe. The conference between the Eev. W. Birch and the officers of tho Baptist Taberuaole was resumed to-night, when an interchange of views took place and the conference closed. The result has not transpired, but a special meeting of the chnroh members is convened for Monday night. Geetmouth, 12th September. Mr. J. (J. Woon, Collector of Customs, who is about to be transferred to Hokitika, waß given a complimentary concert last night. To-night he was presented by the business people of Greymouth with a handsome and valuable gold watch suitably inscribed, and an albert and locket. LYTTEI.TON, 12th September. Tho Nettie's hatohos were opened t"is aftornoon. The fire was found still smouldering. The vessel was taken into the graving dock and filled with water. Hokitika, 12th September. The Boss United Company oleaned up at Jones' flat olevators yesterday with 117oz of gold, making the yield for the run down 1660z, valued at .£630. Owing to the short supply of water Donoghuo's elovators did not work down, deferring it for a week or two.
