Fires are still raging on Banks' Peninsula. r Knox's house, at Akaroa, was destroyed, f and a very large quantity of winter feed was i trarned. Serious bush and grass fires are reported 1 from the Oxford district. On Friday a graßS firo fitartod on Henderson & M'Beath's run, r and burnt for six miles, destroying the stock ? of oats and a qnantity of feed belonging to * Mr. Jeffs, also two stacks of oats and the '< fences belonging to Mr. Charles Thompson. ? A bush fire started near Cooper's Creek on Thursday night, and spread over two miles of country, destroying a large quantity of fencing, firewood, poßts, and rails, &c. j Yesterday and to-day parts of the Summitj road were impassable. A very large area of ) winter feed has been d«stroyod. The loss is ) estimated at hundreds of ponnds.
