The wator.i of Lake Taupo were greatly agitated, and roae conmdorably, rushing np the eacheß in tremendous Rurf, and ponring through the outlet at the head of the Waikato Kiver in a deafening roar. Tontjariro was hidden by clouds yedtenl-iy, but showed m'gris of unusual activity, emitting large and intermittent volume* of fcteain.
