n Bjutaxa TiLKißiPH.— oorraiaHT. PROJECTED AUSTRALIAN RAILWAYS. THE P. & 0. CO.'S MAIL CONTRACT. A FLYING SQUADRON. CHOLERA AT GIBRALTAR. THE GOVERNOR OF HERAT'S FIDELITY. [SPECIAL TO UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received September 3, 7.30 p.m.) London, 3rd September. Mr. Cheesewright, surveyor, leaves in October to survey the land concessions applied for by Mr. Anthony Hordern in connection with his projected railway from Albany to York. The capital required for constructing the railway from Guilford to Geraldton, in Western Australia, aa proposed by Mr. John Waddington, has been subscribed by a syndicate, and the company will be registered shorsly. Mr. Richard P. Williams, railway statist, will shortly proceed to Western Australia to report on the railways there. The P. and O. Company have received the usual notice of the termination of their mail contract from the Government. A flying squadron is at present being formed. H.M. ships Emerald, Volage, and Active have already been selected. Cholera has made its appearance at Gibraltar. The Governor of Herat has been absolved from the charges brought against him by Colonel Ridgway of tampering with letters, &0., addressed to members of the Afghan Boundary Commission.
