A QUERY. TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING POST.
Sir — Would you be kind enough to give the following your consideration, and let the result appear in your paper : — '. ' ' At a meeting of a debating society in ihlff town, "The influence of colonial life on merits) and moral culture," was proposed as a subject for an essay. 1 contended that the subject was not worded correctly, in fact, was not sense, and that it should have been .worded thus— " The influence of colonial life mentally and morally, or on the mental and moral powers*" I was laughed at from the president downwards; still I believe that I am right, and should be much obliged if you would give your opinion! on the matter.
