The most popular book in Chicago, in the opinion of the Chicago Bible Society, is the Bible. .The Rev. J. L. McLaughlin, Secretary of the organisation, reported it distributed 449,980 copies in Cook County (Chicago) last year through not-for-profit sales and outright gifts. "There is no explanation," he added, "except that there is a tremendous reawakening of interest in religion —one of those deep, silent movements that get under way once in a generation before the people are aware of it."
