SECOND GREAT FIRE OF LONDON:
Thousands of fire bombs were rained by German raiders upon the City quarter of London, destroying ancient landmarks and historic buildings. Among the links with London's part to perish' was the fiye-century-old Guildhall, seen in ruins after the German vandalism.
