SWIMMING SPORTS

Arrangements are being made to hold, the Southbridge Swimming Club's annual carnival on Saturday, March 9. There will be a good programme of swimming, diving and novelty events.

SCHOOL CHILDREN TO VISIT

EXHIBITION

Mr W. C. Eggelton, headmaster of the District High School, is at present making preparations for a visit to the exhibition at Wellington by a party of about 41 children from the school. The. party will leave early 'next week and return on Friday. Fuller details will be given in Friday's Guardian.

GIFTS FOR WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MEMBERS

On behalf of the Southbridge Women's Institute, gifts of appreciation of their services have" been forwarded by the secretary (Miss E. Sloari), to Mrs C. H. Chapman and Mrs H. G. Hubbard, both of whom have how left the district.

The annual meeting of the Southbridge Wome'n's Institute is to be held on Tuesday afternoon, March 5.

PERSONAL

Mr R. Shaw, M.A., of Knox College, Dunedin, who is relieving the Rev. L. G. B. Whitehead at Southbridge Presbyterian Church, will conduct his final services next Sunday. Mr Whitehead will be back in time to take the Centennial services the following Sunday.

Mrs G. N. Bradley (Murchison) is on a holiday visit to her parents Mr and Mrs G. Hart.

Mr and Mrs Rutledge (Christchurch) are spending a holiday, at Rakaia Huts.

Mr and Mrs McQueen (Dunedin) are visiting Miss Russell, Little

Rakaia

Mr and Mrs A. J. Beamsley will leave shortly on a holiday visit to Wellington.

Mr E. Davison and Mrs Davison, formerly of Sedgemere, but now of Woolston School, were week-end visitors to the district.
