SPRINGSTON CLUB
There was a good attendance of members and supporters at the annual meeting of the Springston Miniature Rifle Club, held in the Springston Hall. The balance-sheet for the year ending March 31 showed a credit of £8/9/8. Officers elected were:—President, Mr P. V. Bailey; vice-presidents, Messrs J. S. Simpson, ~W. J. Wilson, C. N. C. Powell, H. s. Everest, W.
Wright, F. E. Morrish, J. W. Kime, W. H. Tyson, J. McVinnie, T. Hewton, D. Marshall, R. H. Davis, A. Savin, E. L. Neale, J. Doherty, G. Smithers, and Dr. W. A. Johnston; executive, Messrs J. Blakemore, D. Marshall, C. W. Mills, W. Thompson, V. Thomson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr A. J. Lysaght. The season opened with a practice shoot. Since the annual meeting several valuable trophies have been donated to the club for competition, including the Springston Hall Committee's Shield, which is to be an annual aggregate trophy. Cups have been given by Messrs J. Fraser and !H. S. Everest. A junior members', club has been j formed for shooters under the age of j 18 years. A hotty button has been j i donated, and is being competed for by the younger members with much enthusiasm. At the weekly shoot held on Wednesday evening there was a good muster. The hotty button for juniors was won by C. A. Bailey, with a score of 64, and the senior trophy by K. Bailey. The highest scores for the evening's shooting were:—C. W. Mills 69, J. Blakemore 67, V. Thomson 67, W. Greenslade 66, E. Howarth 66, W. Thompson 65, A. J. Lysaght 65, K. Bailey 65, A, McLachlan 64, T. Clements 63.
