VINCENT HOSPITAL BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Board was held in the County Chambers, Clyde, on 15th inst.. the following members -being present— Messrs S. A, Stevens (Chair), D. S. Middleton. J. McKnight, W- Bringans. J. Swann, R. Butcher and G. Wishai't. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs G. J. Spain and W, D. Naylor. The Department of Health forwarded Ministerial approval to the construction of a 20,000 gallon reinforced concrete Reserve Water Supply Tank and pipe-line connections, at an estimaed cost of £770. The Director-General of Health advised that the Hon. the Minister and the Price Tribunal had approved of the Boards ’ increasing from 12/- to 14/6 per day as from 1/10/44, its daily fee for treatment of in-patients at Cromwell Hospital. The Secretary pointed out ■ that the increased fee would apply in respect of claims on outside Boards for treatment of patients ( from outside Districts. The Hospital Boards’ Association advised that a General Conference of Hospital Boards would be held in Wellington from 6th to Bth February, 1945. The appointment of a delegate was held over. The Otago Hospital Board forwarded notifications of 3 Vincent residents admitted to Dunedin Hospital’ during the past month, while 2 Vincent patients had been discharged from that Institution during the month. The Otago Board also forwarded a statement for the year ended 31/3/44 in connection with the Reciprocal Agreement between the two Boards, showing a balance of £396/7/10 due to the Otago Board. A renewal of the Agreement had been approved by the Otago Board for the current year on the same terms as last year, viz/—annual payment by Vincent Board of £350. subject to adjustment at end of year based on cost per occupied bed. > The Waipiata Sanatorium Committee advised that 2 Vincent male natients had been admitted to the Sanatorium during October, while a bed was now available for a female patient from this Dlstiict on the waiting list. Patients under treatment at Boards’ Institutions during month of October:— Dunstan Hospital—--34 Admitted, 27 Discharged, 1 Death. 24 Patients in Hospital at end of month. Cromwell Hospital—36 Admitted, 35 Discharged, and 2J Patients remaining at end of the month. A donation of £l/10 to Cromwell Hospital Wireless Fund from Mr /J. Pearson, Glenfoylo, R.D., ‘ Cromwell, was acknowledged with thanks. Concreting of drive outside main entrance doors, and provision of Shed for staff garage and bikeshelter at Cromwell Hosptial were agreed to. Further enquiries are to be made regarding the laying down of'the Cromwell Hospital Tenniscourt in concrete. The Treasurer’s Report showing a credit balance of £1174/9/3 on bank current account at date of meeting was approved- Accounts, Salaries and Wages for the past month totalling £1603/16/9, were passed for payment.
