PERSONAL

A pleasant function took place at Mr J Davidson’s residence, Dunedin, on Wednesday, April Ist, when a representative gathering of members of the Zingari-Richmond Football Club presented Mr Davidson (past president), who has been laid aside by illness for some months, with a travelling rug and leather bag for Mrs Davidson. In making the presentations, Mr T. Kellan (president) wished Mr Davidson a speedy recovery, and expressed the club’s appreciation of the excellent work ho had done during his term of office. Other speak ers who testified to the recipi ents’ work were Messrs H. Collie and A. H. Cameron. Mr Davidson is at present in Queens town, and will shortly come on to Clyde, where he will receive a hearty welcome from his many old friendsMr and Mrs J. Parcell, Cromwell, spent the Easter holidays at Tapanui. Mr T N. Finder, of Omarau, is a visitor to Clyde and is the guest of his aunt (Mrs Powley).

We regret to report the death at Invercargill of Mrs Bain, mother of Mr J. Bain and Mrs J. Hollows of Clyde. Mr J. Kilgour, Ornakau representative of the Otago Farmers Co-op., who has been transferred to Dunedin, is to be farewelled at Matakanui on Wednesday night. Her many friends will be glad to learn that Mrs J. L. Davidson returned to Clyde on Wednesday last, greatly improved in health as the result of special treatment in Dunedin. Miss 11 Naylor returned to Clyde on Wednesday last after spending Easter with her parents in Dunedin. It is with feelings of profound regret that we have to chronicle the demise at the Dunslan Hospital last night of Mr Los Scott, railway clerk at Clyde. In our last issue it was reported that he had been injured in a simple way by running into a single wire barrier while running after a football in the Kec. While this statement was true, the accident was not the actual cause of his passing, as he died from bloodpoisoning. It is a very sad case! Poor Les was only a new-comer to Clyde, but his kindly disposition and gentlemanly behaviour had earned lor him the respect and esteem of all who knew him. His untimely death is greatly to be deplored, and it has caused an atmosphere of gloom over the town this morning. The deceased was a native of Balclutha and is to be buried there.
