DUNSTAN PARISH

An inmemoriam service for the late Mr Henry Hotop, Churchwarden and Secretary of St Aiden’s Church, Cromwell, is to he held next Sunday morning at 11 a. m. Parishoners from all parts of the Parish are invited to attend this service.

At a meeting of the Church Committee, Cromwell, Mr H. J. Webb was appointed Secretary and Mrs Webb Duplex Secretary. Mr M. L. Hotop was elected to fill one vacancy existing. The Vicar notified receiving the intimation that an extensive memorial has been promised the Church in memory of Mr and Mrs Hotop, The Secretary stated that a large number of offers for larger support to Church funds had been received and this was a big encouragement to the Committee

Two further donations of £s*& £l 1 respectively have been by St Michael’s Womens’ Society for the new Parish Hall fund. Further donations have also been promised. Some twenty-six ladies met at St Aidan’a Church Hall last Wednesday aftei noon and with much enthusiasm decided upon a Womens’ Society on similar lines to that of St Michael’s Clyde. Mrs Poison was appointed President; Vice-Presidents, Mesdames Timmingsand Geo. Hesson; Mrs E. J. Terry, Sec. At next meeting a syllabus is being adopted and members will each bring a gift to the society. After a visitation in the Omakau portion of the Parish it has been decided to postpone the service in that locality arranged for 6th July. The deciding factor was the want of a suitable building, but that difficulty should be overcome in the near future. The Vestry appreciates the fact that Church services in that area have promise of a very encouraging response. The start about to be made will be part l of a bigger scheme which looks promising at the present time,
