OTUREHUA NOTES

(From our own Correspondent.) Gun Club. The annual meeting of the Rough Ridge Gun Club was held at the Oturehua Hall on Wednesday the 18th inst, seven members _ being present. Mr A. Nelson occupied the chair. After the confirmation of the minutes and the adoption of the balance sheet the following office bearers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron and Patronesss*. Mr and Mrs T. Gilchrist. President: Mr D. G Becker. Vice-Presidents: Messrs W. Bulman and E. NicolsonSecretary and Treasurer; Mr F. G. McKuight. Committee: Messrs C- Harrex, D. Nicolson, R. Glendining, W. G. Becker and A. Nelson. Handicappers: J. Nicolson and R Andrews. Referee: J. Blackwell. The opening shoot was fixed for ( June 27th when a 5s sweep-stake will be held. It was resolved to hold a £2O match, towards the end of July, the date to be fixed by the Committee. Mr J. Nicolson moved that a remit be forwarded to the New Zealand Gun Club Assn, that ail Clubs be circularized with a view to encouraging the use of ammunition manufactured within the Empire, preferably that of the Colonial Ammunition Company- / The motion was seconded by Mr W. J- Becker, and carried unanimously. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.

Personal Mr and Mrs Batcher of ‘Bromley” Poolburn, motored through to Dunedin on Thursday last. Mr and Mrs R. A- Glendining “Fernhills” Ida Valley, spent the week-end in Dunedin* Mr and Mrs Alex. Gilchrist left for Town on Thursday last to be present at the Test match. The first test aroused considerable interest locally, and a large number of enthusiasts from Oturehua and the surrounding districts travelled by road and rail to see the big match. Amongst those present included Messrs J; Gilchrist, E. Nicolson, G- Owens, F- G. McKnight, A. C. Notman, J. Dillon, D. G. Wade, G. L- Blakely, D. Messent, A. Huddleston, J. Huddleston, J. Minshall, G. W. Johnstone, A. Becker, D. G, Becker, W. J. Becker, H* Kirkwood and many others.
