HOCKEY SOCIAL.

There was a large attendance I at the Hockey Social at Clyde on Friday evening last, the principal I attraction doubtless being the I presentation of the Bodkin Cup | and the medals, won at the I Tournament" at Alexandra- The Town Hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion, and the floor was in beautiful order for dancing- Love's Orchestra supplied the music which is sufficient guarantee -that it was first-class. After an acceptable supper had been done ample justice to Mr J. Holt, M C-, asked the Hockey team to step up on to the stage- Here Mr R. Bringans, in the absence of the members of the -Association from Alexandra, made the presentations. In doing so he "complimented the team on its splendid and unbeaten recordHis remarks were loudly applauded- Dr Turn bull responded on behalf of the Club- Another pleasing incident, and one evidently a genuine surprise to the gentleman most interested was the presentation by the Club of an inscribed silver wristlet watch to Mr Bringans- Miss Keddell in making the presentation thanked the recipient for his splendid services as coach, remarking that the team's success was very largely due to his teaching- The gift was a slight token of their appreciation. These sentiments were warmly applauded, and Mr Bringans returned -\ thanks. During the evening Messrs R. Smart and EJ. Chapman contributed vocal items which were much enjoyedThe latter gentleman is the possessor of a nice voice, and is a decided acquisition- Altogether the social was a great success-
