The Fruit World, Reilly’s Central Produce Mart, Dunedin, report— Rather a disappointing week for some fruitgrowers. Speculators buying fruit from a certain firm and reselling where competition is keener cannot be in the interests of fruitgrowers. We handled large consignments from Otago Central, Canterbury and Nelson districts. Central Tomatoes realised 4d to yd. Apricots realised from 3id to 3d Peaches jams threepence lo 3>Vd, desserts 6id, Crate plums— to yd; Nectarines desserts j/4d to 6?/d ; jam <fd Coxs Orange apples and other desserts 2% d to 3id ; Delicious sd, cooking apples 2d. Blackberries to ?j£d French beans d ; green peas 3 to 4> 4 / d, Marrows made ys to ns 3d per sack Farmers butter 15,3 d to is 4d; Stamped and guaranteed eggs zsid. Prime fowl wheat 6s yd bushel; oats 4s 6d ; oat sheaf chaff £7 15s A fair demand has been experienced for lime sulphur Black leaf 40 is difficult to procure. Poultry is in excess of requirements, —Hens realised is yd to 3s id, duck lings 3d lo 3s fid; geese 3s fid to ss. Cockerels 2s 3d to 3s; chickens is to is yd each. Almonds, filbert nuts,, and walnuts are eagerly inquired for.
