FIRE BRIGADE SOCIAL.

The Seventh Annual Social tendered to the Clyde Volunteer Fire Brigade by the ladies of Clyde was held in the Town Hall on Friday evening when a record attendance was present. The hall was artistically decorated and the scene of splendour lent by the great variation of colours ol the decorations and the pretty dresses was pleasing to the eye. The supper, prepared by the ladies was, as usual, beyond criticism as also was the first class music sup plied by Mr Symons. The ladies and the Brigade spared no pains in making everything as enjoyable as possible and succeeded in no small measure. Great praise is due to the ladles, especially Mrs Burrows (president), and Miss Smart (secretary), who both worked hard to bring the function right up to its usual standard of success. Just before supper Mr Smart, by request ot the Brigade, took the opportunity to present some ot the members with certificates and bars ot membership, which were as follows ;—Capl. Smart and Fireman A. Waddell, two years bars, completing seven years service, and Lieut. Hall and Fireman J. Holt, three years certificates, lor three years service. The following is a list of the fancy dresses worn, and are not in their order of merit: — Miss Spain, Cowgirl ~ M, Spain, Japanese girl ~ Stewart, Coleen Bawn ~ Barry, Parisian Dancer ~ McSwan, Nurse ~ Lynch, Red Riding Hood ~ Turner, Britannia ~ Ericson, Sleeping Beauty ~ Mackenzie, Pumpkin Girl ~ Farrell, Wild West ~ Davis, Spanish Dancer ~ Anderson, Ivy Mrs Burrows, Quaker Girl ~ McKenzie, Highland Lass ~ C. Tweedie, Clown ~ Perry, Negro ~ Wilson, Death The Captain, on behalf ot the Brigade thanked the ladies and all who had helped to bring the social to its great success. Something over has been taken and it is expected that the profit will be ns much if not more than last year. Mr R. Holden carried out the duties of M.C. in an efficient manner.
