THE GREAT AMERICAN STRIKE.
LONDON, July 22.
Owing to the American strike considerable shipments of Welsh tin plates are being made. [The imposition of the M'Kinley tariff gave an artificial impetus to the American tin plate manufacture, and practically killed the imported article. Several British firms closed their doors, and erected plants in America. The great steelworkers' strike has, pro tern., thrown this industry back into the hands of its original monopolists.]
