The fires of the last week in this city have wiped out the whole of the gross premiums of forty-five insurance companies for the whole year.
[The average cost of management among British fire insurance companies is about 7A per cent, of the premium income. The charges under this head are. therefore, in addition to th« actual tire loss.]
