DKITHUFMRS JAS. BBNNBT.
The " Tuapeka Times " reports the death of Mrs Bennet, wife of Mrs J..s. Bennet, M H R., which took place at her residence at Haes Junction on Saturday morning, after an illness extending over months. Mrs Bennet'-was. we believe, one of the oldest residents in 'he district, and muse have been something like 50 years in the colony. Mrs Bennet lived to an advanced axe, having been over TO years old at her death, and leaves a family of three sons and pne daughter, all up in years. Mi Benne' was in Wellington attending to his Parliamentary duties when the melancholy intelligence of his wife's death was conveyed to him

'! he remains of the late Mrs Bennet were interred in the Lawrence cemetery on Monday aiternoon, the funeral cortege, which was a huge one, comprise ing settlers from Roxburgh to Johnston beyond the Waitahuaa district, thus showing the respect and esteem in which the deceased lady and her family were held. The ceremony at the grave was conducted by the ftev. Mr Will.
