July is about three parts through and many peoplw have been inquiring when the annual ball of the local " merrie men " is going to eventuate. Last year's function was the best affair of the kind that has ever originated from the Foresters, and with its Javishness ever present in imaginaiive eyes or minds th«- committee will have to draw their strings well out to shoot straight to the buils eye of public opinion. Last ye r the jolly rovers set up a standard which they intend shall not be departed from, and we have no doubt whatever of the result of their endeavor? this year. We can safely predict that on Friday. August £O. the gathering at the Clyde Town Hall will unanimously decide that 1901 beat 1900 by bow lengths.
