The president, in the course of his address at the annual meeting, protested against the practice of members of the metropolitan club committee holding office as stewards on other local or suburban clubs. He hoped the club would mark their protest and back him up in this matter. The report was adopted, and on the motion of the Hon. E. Mitchelson the following was carried :—" That it be an instruction to the incoming committee to discontinue the practice hitherto adopted of deducting 5 per cent from the stakes."
