Mr R. G. Thompson Appointed. [PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wei_lington, This day. Mr R. G. Thompson, of Dunedin, has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the Ransai c. staff on a month's probation. If he fills the requirements, the appointment will be made permanent. There were several applicants for the position, but the desire was expressed by the Reporting Debates Committee that the appointment should be given to an experienced pressman. Mr Thompson is wellknown in journalistic circles throughout the colony, having been on the literary staffs of the Marton Advocate and the Gisborne Herald, and for the last two years on the Dunedin Star. He has had a good deal of Parliamentary experience, having been engaged in committee reporting, and as an amanuensis on Bansard. The appointment is popular iv press circles.
