HASTINGS CALEDONIAN SPORTS.
[to the editoe.]
Sic,—l observe that the Hastings Caledonian Society is going to hold sports on New Year's Day, 1892. As a possible oompetitor, I wish to ask through the medium of your columns on what principle the great Highland events will be judged f Will it be by points ? Or in what way. There will no doubt be bagpipo musio, eword dances, Highland flings, and shauntreaua. It will be clear to everyone that these exercises require much previous training, and, of course, will incur expense. It is only natural, therefore, to desire to know how competitors are to be judged. There is another matter in which it would be well \ to be posted in, and tbat is—if any compejpßCr ia dissatisfied with the award of the ; judges, will there be any arrangements made for protests against the decision of the judges. With every wish for the welfare of the new Society, I ask the directors to con • eider this before publishing their programme.—l am, &c, COMPETITOE. Hastings, November 24th, 1891.
