[___. PEBBS ASSOOIATION.—OOPTBIGHT.] Mribouenb, October 29. _ Owing to a severe injury to one of his legs Forest King, the runner-up for the Oaulfield Cup, has been scratched for the Melbourne Cup. Aster, Affiance, Steadfast, and Lady Car ■ bine have been withdrawn from the Derby.
At Oaulfield thi_ morning Greygown ran a strong mile in lmin 50sec, pulling up sound. TiraiUerie accompanied Tirailleur Bnd StBX-Chaser the 6rst seven furlongs of a mile and a half gallop, Tirailleur beating the colt after a rattling finish by a neok in 2mm The last mile waß traversed in lmin 48|sec, which is a marvellously good gallop for Caulfield, albeit the touts discount it owing to both horses having shoes off. Leonardo went well over the schooling hurdles. Malvolio negotiated a mile and a half in 2min 43jsec, but finished somewhat slovenly. At Mentone Pig6cmtoe is credited with having run two miles and 40 yards in 3rain 40sec with Bst up, and is now first favorite for the Cup at 100 to 12 (off) 100 to 10 wanted. Paris, Malvolio, and Correze are at 100 to 10. Oxide is second favorite for the Derby at 3 to 1. i
