BRITISH LION'S dam, Darling, was got by the world-renowned Drew's Prince of Wales (673, Vol. I.), which horse is considered to be one of the best stock getters in the world; he was got by General (322, Vol. I.) out of Darling, by Samson, alias Logan's Twin (741, Vol. I.), by Lofty (455, Vol. I.), winner of Ist prize and silver medal at Glasgow, by Farmer's Fancy (298, Vol. I.), winner of Ist prize as a three-year-old at H.S. On his first appearance on a show ground in New Zealand, in 1886, he took Ist prize and Champion at Oamaru. In 1887 he took Ist and Champion at the South Canterbury Show at Timaru, beating 9 others, and also taking President's prize of i £25. In the same year ke took Ist and Champion at Palmerston South.
