The Waikato correspondent of the Auckland Star rmuark.s in oue of his letters that, contrary to expectation, the number of fhtep sent through this eeitiori from Hawke's Bay to Waikuto has hoc been equal to former years The fact is that the supplies id HawkVti Bay itro not equal to the demand, and during the last yea,r or two so many Wanganui farmers have been sroing in for sheep that they have draw n a large number down that way. This fact has had a great deal to do with the great increase in value of :-tore sheep which nas lately taken place throughout the whole of the Waikato district, as evidenced by the prices obtained at the recent sheep fairs for sheep of all descriptions. Rams, too, are in good demand, and anything like good quality sell freely. The Waikato correspondent does not seem to tako into consideration the remtirkably wet Reason we had, the consequent abundance of grass, and the better prices to be obtained by freezing. There have been no store sheep this season; everything is rolling fat.
