AUCKLAND CRIMINAL SESSIONS.
Auckland, This day. At the Supreme Court there are no less than thirty-seven indictments, of which the largest proportion are forgery and false pretences. There are two charges of criminal libel arising- out of a dispute between a teacher and the School Committee at Opotiki, one of wounding, and two of rape. The Judge commented on the calendar as a melancholy record, showing notwithstanding that this is the best season for employment, crime was evidently on the increase, the calendar being comprised alinodt entirely of serious offeuces.
