At the inquest on the bodies of Mr Brown and son drowned at the mouth of the Waimakariri river on Snnday, a verdict of "Accidentally drowned" was returned. Mr Brown was a good swimmer, but was either taken with cramp or carried down by the under flow caused by the current of the river meeting the morning tide.
