Our cablegrams to-day are not of a startling character. A Catholic priest, for denouncing sin from the pulpit, was mobbed last Sunday on leaving the church. It has long been" the creed of Irish nationalists that thoy can do no wrong. They have reserved to themselves the right to repudiate debts; to compel tho repudiation of their debts by others : to rob, to coerco, to conspire ; to maim man and beast, and. if need be, to murder. It seems they _ have now eliminated adultery from their list of sins. How far are their priests responsible for all this backsliding ? Have they denounced in the name of the Church the boycott, the plan of campaign, and tho distardly deeds that have disgraced humanity which havo been committed under the guise of the cause of Ireland ? Or havo they assumed in many instances the leadership iv tho movement, and promoted societies for tho collection of funds, some of which it was known would be devoted to the defence of criminals. There are few priests in or out of Ireland who would havo taken tho stand that Bishop O'Dwycr, of Limerick, has done. How has he been treated? And now, when an honest priest, in the exercise of his calling as a servant of God, raises his voico from the pulpit to denounce a hypocrite and an adulterer, his congregation mob him ! —Lady Jersey is recovering from typhoid fever.—Dr. Koch hn.Bl._en decorated with the Order of the Red Eagle.—Sir Dillon Bell, our Agent-General, desires tho colonies to join together to send an eminent physician to Berlin to study Dr. Koch's great discovery, and obtain tbe lymph.
