BOARD OF HEALTH.
The Council then sat as the Board of Health.
The Inspector of Nuisanoos brought under the notice of tho Board the endorsed letters, one from Dr. Mooro, on behalf of Mr J. Maronoy, respecting a cesspit on the premises of Mr Roberts, the contents of which Mr Moroney alleged soaked through the bauk at the back of _1b house ; and the other letter was the conjoint repoit of Dr. do Lisle, acting on behalf of Mr Roberts, and Dr. Moore on Mr Maroney's behalf, in respect to same. The cesspit in question was situated in a gully on the southern slope of the hill overlooking Shakespeare road, about 90 feet above the bank at the back of Mr Maroney's house, and consequently the contents had to percolate that distance boforo tho bank- is reached. Mr Roberts was quite* willing to connect with the sewor if facilities were given him to do so. The distance of the house from the sower by tho nearest practical route was over 500 feet, and therefore meant considerable cost. Ho suggested that a six inch pipe should bo laid up the right-of-way, and that Mr Roberts carry out the rest;.'
The report was referred to the Pnblic Works Committee, and tho meeting adjourned.
