J The results of the business for the Forty- ' I first Ye*r, ending 31st December, 1889, : I may be summarised as under : ■ FIRST—The number of the New Policies I issued was 11,064. J SECOND—The now Assurance business I effected was for £3,679,459. THIRD—Tho New Annual Premium InI come amounted to £121,800. FOURTH—The net increase to the busiI ness, after allowing for loss of income I from terminated Policies was reprej aented by 702S Policies, assuring £2,109,199. FIFTH—The operations of the year raised I tho annual income of tho Society from £1,512,a50 to £1,625,185, an inoreasoin twelve months of £112,905. I SIXTH—The Accumulated Fund was inI creased during the year by the sum of £742,311, equal to 71 por cent, of tho gross premiume received. SEVENTH—The deaths among lives nsI sured were 049 under 735 policies, I causing claims upon the Society ', amounting to £299,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143, for an amount of £438,970, tho mortality experience being thus extremely fuvorable. EIGHTH—The receipts from interest and rents were £516,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the olaiins by £138,952 NINTH—Tho exDenses of Management were only 9o per cent of the total receipts. TENTH—Tho cash surplus divided for the year 1889 was £420,494, being at the rate of 41 - 6 per cent on tho premiums received. Tho operations of tho Society during tho 41 years of its existence may be summarised as under— It has issued 141,907 policies, assuring £49,417,717It has paid to the representatives of deceased members over £4,000,000 in satisfaction of doath and matured claims. It has divided amoiig tho members cash bonuses aggregating oror £4,000,000, yielding reversionary additions of over £8,000,000.
