London, October 17. It is now proposed to issue bonds for the purpose of raising the £20,000 asked for by the Australian Unions. Burns was sanguine of success prior to the receipt of Mr Champion's cablegram stating that the loan would be useless to avert a collapse o the strike.

Sydney, This day. At a meeting of the Marine Officers Association, held in camera to consider the position, it is understood that a resolution to withdraw the delegates from the Labor Defence Committee was negatived, and in. consequence twenty-five members resigned. The meeting arose out of the action of the. officers at Melbourne.
Mklboubne, This day. The Marine Officers Association bave written to the Steamship-Owners Association taking advantage of the offer of the latter body to meet and discuss the reasons why they left their employment. The. Steamship.Owners' Association have replied fixing Monday as the day for the conference.
