Tho s.B. Kiwi is to leave Wellington tonight, mid is due here early on Wcdnof day morning with tho balance of the Arawa'a goods. Tho Union Company's chartered steamer Janet 2Siooll, Captain Henry, arrived from Gisborno early this morning, and was brought in by tho harbormaster at lowwater slack (8 a.m.), drawing 12 feet aft. Tho Janet Nicoll has been chartered for a term by tho Union Company, who will run her in the intercolonial trade. She visited this port several times when under charter to Messrs Donald and Edonborough, of Auokland. Cnptain Henry will be replaced here by Captain McLean, formerly chief officer of the Takapuna. Mr Johnston, tho chief officer, and formerly chief of the i Australia, will bo replaced here by Mr Robertson, of the Omapero. The Janet Nicoll brought down Wirth's Wild Wost Show and a largo quantity of general cargo, after discharge of which, sho will load potatoes for Sydney. She will tike about 750 tons, 200 tons of which will havo to bo lightered. She steams for Sydney on Wednesday. Tho officers of tho s.s. Jauot Nicoll which brought down tho Wild West Show wore the recipients of a very flattering testimonial from Mr Wirth and his manager, Mr Alexander, for tho way in which they wore treated on board tho steamer. Tho chief steward, Mr J. Fielder, is especially mentioned for tho way in which ho porfonned his duties. Tho barque Ganymede is expected to sail for Oamaru about Saturday. Tho schooner Lily left Timaru on Friday last with tho contractor's plant for tho new section of the breakwater. Tho barqueutine Pendle Hill was to have left Newcastle yesterday for Ly ttelton with a load of coals. Tho ketch Comet is expected shortly from Duncdiu. A fire was discovered on board the steam&r Napier, which is laid up in Wellington harbor, at G o'clock yesterday morning. A boat put off from tho shore, and tho occupants broke in the forecastle door and put out tho fire, which had burned through tho bulkhead between tho hold and tho forecastle. Tho latter was gutted. The Napier is a small steamer, and no one lived on board. Tho damage is not great. The ship Himalaya, 111 days out from London, has arrived at Wellington.
