Tfeoh oue pabliamentary bepobtbr.J [by telegbaph.] Wellington, Last night. CIVIL SKBVICE OLASBIFCATION. Although the Civil Service Classification Bill will be found among the slaughtered innocents when the acting-Premier makes his statement to-morrow, it by no moans follows that the Government have abandoned their intention of introducing a short measure this session providing for the classification of the Postal and Telegaph Departments. A dtaft of the Bill will be submitted to Mr Ballanco in a day or two, and if his party offer no objoction, it will be put through at onoe. SIB GEORCffi OBEY AND THE COMPACT. The compact arrived at between Messrs Ballacoo and Bryce (as representing the Government) has tho support of members on both sides of the House, but as might have been expected, Sir George Grey says that the bargain made is entirely unconstitutional, and declares that the Government have gained everything they have been contending for, while tho Opposition gain has been absolutely nil.
