TOWN EDITION.

Captain Edwin wired at 1 p.m. to-day : N. to W. and S.W. gale -within 12 hours from now, und glass full.

Mr Hamilton, who will take charge of tho Hawko's Bay exhibits at tho Exhibition, left by steamer this afternoon for Dunedin,

In our first edition, a number of columns of which are published without correction, in our special cablegram referring to the Empress of Austria, the word "hiesed" wu.s printed " kissed." Now, as the Empress is 52 years of age, it is not likely tho Italian populiico would rush up to kiss her. What she has done of late to incur tho displeasure of her southern neighbors we do not know, our cablegram, with charming brevity, neglecting to say when, or why she was subjected to this indignity. The natural politeness of our oomps., and their respect for tho fair sex, perhaps, would not allow them for a moment to suppose that a ludy could be hissed, and so gallantly turned the " h " into " k."

It will bo remembered that in the case of C. Hoffman v. M. Fergusson, the R.M. made tiu order the other day that the piano should bo returned within three days, failing to do this the defendant to pay the sum claimed, instalments on piano in arrears, £14. Mr Lee, who appeared for plaintiff, intimated at tho R.M. Court this morning that the defendant refused to deliver the piano to them, and had barricaded the house. Ho applied for an order to immediately deliver the piano, and issue a warrant afterwards. The R.M. said he would not grant tho order now, but would tako time to consider tho question. Mr Lee said the defendant and his wife would prpr bly, in the meantime, leave for Sydney. The R.M. agreed to allow counsel to renew tho application on Monday.
