The next sitting of the Court of Appenl will bo held at Wellington, on the 28th instant. Typo for September is to hand. The number is put up to the usual standard of excellence. The completion of one thousand miles of railway in Japan was celebrated by a grand gathering on July 10. Another thousand miles are under construction. Every mile of railway opened has proved profitable so far. A child .-eyenteen months old, named Mullison, wus aceidently poieor.ed yesterday at Oiimuru by drinking some sulphuric acid. Tho acid had been placed in a shed at the back of tho house, and tho child got at it and died half au hour after the doe-lorn arrival.
