She was headed j tor the shore, but before reaching , shallow water the liree were put out, and the vessel wink in ten minutes. Immediately after tho collision tho boats worn lowered, and the passengers taken off. The crew were rescued by passing steamers. Tlie cook, who was in the forecastle at tho time of the collision, crawled through v hole and jumped into the set. The propeller of the Jiruuthooka struck his leg, breaking it and making a frightful gash. He was rescued and takon to the hospital. The passenger* and crew lout everything except what they stood up in. The officers of tho Centennial behaved splendidly.
