Mr. Dawes proposes that should be written off New Zealand Shipping Company's shares. TURKEY. It is reported that the Sultan has issued secret instructions to the Turkish Governors of Armenian districts and villages to protect tho Khurds from the hostility which their inroads and outrages in Armenia havo pr»voked. The reason for this intervention is the friendship of the Khurds and their great valuo to Turkey in the event of war with Russia on the Armonian frontier. These instructions havo caused great alarm amongst the Christians who are suffering severely from the lawlessness of tho Khurds.
