Mr Griffin said, as Mr. Naphtali had remarked that Mr. Sidey had been a srood chairman, he did not think they could do better than re-elect him. He moved a -r"' motion to that effect. 1 jfo. Bear seconded the motion. Jle thought they could not have a better chairMr. Murphy moved as nn amendment that Mr. Gilberd be chairman for the ensuinsr year. Mr. Hebden seconded. Mr Naphtali was rather surprised at tho remarke that had fallen from Mr Griffin. Jfr certainly had admittpd that Mr. Sidey £ade a good chairman, but bu had not said anything which would lead them to believe thntho intended supporting Mr. Sidey. In fact, he was quito reverse to this. The Chairman said ho would like to makes B n explanation with reference to the holiday this week. The position was this, llio Visitinsr Committee appointed at tho last Meeting W a» a distinctly differentj institution • it wae a (jub-committee of the Holiday Committee. Mr. Hebden as one of the . He (Mr. Sidey) as Chairman of the Holiday Committee HPVer called a meeting, because he had 110 idea' that Mr. Hebden was visiting tho school, or that Mr. Parker or Mr. Hcbdoii had made any arrangements with regard to tho holidays. If ho (the Chairman) had thought that it wan the wish of any member of tho Committee that extra holidays should have been given, he would have willed together a meeting of the Holiday Committee. It was not necessary for tho Holi- „ day CommittfO to meet to consider granting the children holidays on Good Iriday and ISaster Monday; these were recognised holiflaya, but to grant holidays beyond those it would have been necoßenry for the Holiday Commith c to meet. He (tho Chair- ■ man) countermanded the order for the hohL &W that had been granted by Mr. Hebden. r Mr Naphtali said he had not intended to f bring'auy reflection on the Chairman, but he had not stated that he would support Mr Sidey's re-election as Chairman.
