Thk Education Board of Otago have just passed a number of resolutions <Wli»p with the question f.f ♦»-» ~r , ~i..iiut-tit of teachers ■xiiu nyeiem embraced by these resolutions is as follows : The Board is to make a selection of throo candidates. Those names are to be forwarded to the School Committee for a final selection. Nit communications are to ho held between candidates and any officer of tho Board, or member thereof, or by any School Committee, except by official letter, and all such Jotters aro to be deemed official, and registered accoidinjfly. Candidates are prohibited from communicating either directly or indirectly, with a member of the Board regarding an appointment, except on the invitation of such member. These regulations (says the Christchurch Telegraph), ought to have a beneficial i effect, and should in some degree tend to secure fair play in the appointment of teachers. Had they gone a little further, and prohibited the friends of candidates doing any of those things which the candidates tiiomeelvea aro not allowed to do, oven a greater degree of impartiality would bo secured. If our Education Eoard have no such regulations in existence, wo think no harm would be done by following tho example set by Otago."
