H.B. Trotting Club.
Tho first meeting of tho Hawked Bay Trotting Club, which taki-s place to-morrow, promises to be a very big success. The weather now looks as though it would be fine. The fields will be large, and the dividends, as usual on the Park course, are sure to be good. It is impossible to tip what are likely to win tho different events, as most of the horses are untried ones, and this sort of sport is new to the place. The -i.20 train to Waipukurau has been postponed to C.'jO. Tnis will give our up-country visitors a chance of returning homo on tho same day. The first race starts at 1.30, and tho last is set down for h p.m. This will giro visitors plenty of time to get to town before train time. Owners and jockeys who have not got their tickets oan obtain them by applying to and giving their names to the gatekeepers. Mr. D. B. Watt will, as usual, provide a luncheon, and all tho wants of the public will be attended to. Messrs Stock and Cohen will run tho totalisators, which, for the benefit of the Club, it is to be hoped will do a good business. The grand ctand and lawn should be well patroniced, as the oharge is only ha!f-a-crown. Through the courtesy of the agent, the departure of the last launch from tho Spit to tho Mararoa, which leaves here on Saturday for Gisborne and Auckland, has boen postponed to 7 p.m., ho as to give tho sportsmen from those places a chance of attending the meeting.
