FALSE PRETENCES AND ROBBERY.
Auoklajtd, This day. E. Ti. Jaggrar (storeman) and C. E. Madden (solicitor) were arrested lust night churged with obtaining £20 on false pretences. Jaggar was lately reported to" have had a fortune left him, and had been borrowing money on tbe strength of the expectations. Later. Jftgger aud Madden were charged with fatee pretences at the Police Court to-day, and wore remanded till next Tuesday. Juggar was also charged with steulipg 97-i cases of kerosene, valued at £68 ss, "the property of Messrs Arnold, Chiney, :and Co., and Thomas Perry man was charged wijth receiving tho same, knowing them to have been stolen property. The prisoners wore remanded till Thursday.
