Bush News.

[OWN COMIKSPONDKNT.]

The shearing is now about over in these districts. Tho clip yield, I hear, is very satisfactory, but some way or another, it eked out that tho usual run of cheques do

not find their way to the hotels, as they were wont to do after the shearing season. possibly tho shearers are learning, as well as practising, wn-er lessons. The warm and dry weather now prevailing iv the bush districts begins to tell on the usual verdant aspect of the country, as soLie of the hill sides of the pastoral landscapes are assuming a dry appearance. Many of the shallow wells of the districts are becoming dry, requiring their being sunk only a little deeper, when abundance of the purest water can be speedily obteined almost anywhere.

Mr. Bull, the contractor for the additions to tho schoolroom at Danevirke, is making very good progress with the work. Mr. Lamb, archictect, was here the other day, and was well pleased with the progress made. Mr. Clayton's new house of eight rooms is well in hand. It is built near the railway station. Although the building trade is rather slack at present at Danevirke, yet I think that a change for tho hotter is npparont, for th«i-o are far less untenanted houses there now than there wero three months ago.

The farmers of the districts are now busily engaged in harvesting their crops. Mi 1 . Burmister, one of our plucky storekeepers, has purchased Mr. Hans Jensen's farm at Mangataru, of thirty-seven acres.
