[OWN OOBBBSFONDBNT.] I The abovo sports took place yesterday on J the cricket ground, Waipukurau. There I was a fair attendance, but hardly as many as were present at Waipawa on Boxing Day, and of these nearly one hundred went I from the county town. The Norsewood Brass Band, under the conduct of Mr. Jos. Chicken, w»s present, and discoursed fair music during tho day. Messrs Jones and Sharpin wero the judges. Tho following formed the programme :— Maiden Race, of 200 yds. First prize, £1 10s; 2nd, 13s.—Aperaimo, 1; Loder, 2. A very good race. Two o'tbors competed. Boys' Raco (under 10), of 100 yds. First prize, 10s; 2nd, ss; 3rd, 2s 6d.—H MoFon, 1; Gay, 2 ; J. McFee, 3. Three others competed Throwing tho Hammer (16lbs), First prize, £2 ; 2nd, £l.—MoFarlan.e (»9ft 4in), 1 ; Athey (95ft Tin), 2. Cammock (10yds) also ran, For the first three laps the men kept as they started, Roardpa try. ing havd to get up to Mooney, but never succeeding; during the fourth kp Peebles made a jrrand effort, and just snatched the victory. This was said to be the best raoe of the day, and tho handicapping , sxoellent. A Menagerie Race should have followed, but the management very wisely omittod the item.
