Dunedin, This day. The Port Dock Trust have sent homo Mr "William Elder, a late member, to float the loan for the construction of a new dock. He gets a bonus of £300, and £200 additional if successful.
At the request of the Protection League, Sir Julius Vogel has consented to address a public meeting on protection before ho leaves here, but he intimated his views would probably not go the length the requisionists desired.
Auckland, This tiny. A meeting of unemployed, attended by over 100, was held this morning, when a Socialists; haranguo was delivered by the agitator, Garrard, advising the unemployed to join the Volunteer force, and get rifles and ammunition. A committee was appointed to wait on the Mayor, and ask him to telegraph to the Government requesting that public works may bo provided. The meeting iidjourned till Monday next.
