TO STAND THIS SEASON AT MR. SMITH'S STABLES, HASTINGS. . np\HE imported thoroughbred Entire tho Tasmanian sire Albion, dam by the imported horse Old English Gentleman, dam British Queen by Jersey, dam Black Sal by Wanderer, dam Fairy (imported) by Catton, etc. Old English Gentleman was imported in 1844, and through him Dilke inherits the famous Emilius strains; through Jersey the blood of Buzzard, Bay Middleton, Whalebone, etc.; and through tho Wanderer tho muchcoveted Sir Hercules blood. Dilke's sire, Albion, was by North Lincoln, dam Miss Giraffe (dam of Rapid Bay), by King Tom, etc. Dilke is a rich dark brown, with black points, standing 16 hands high on well-set legs. His bone is largo and flat, his feet perfect, his action first-class. Ho has a rare constitution, a docile temper, and for soundness, strength, and substanco, has no equal on the Coast, while his three andfour-year-old performances on the principal racecourses in Tasmania will comparo favorably with thoso of any sire ever imported in tho district. In 1874, as a three-year-old ho won the Grand Stand Stakes, ran second in the Tasmanian Handicap, won the Maiden Plate, tho Tamar Plate, tho Mowbray Handicap, and Forced Handicap. In 1875, tho Tasmanian performances of Dilko were exceptionally brilliant, as tho following record, taken from the Australasian of the 20th February of that year shows:—Won tho Grand Stand Stakes, ono mile and threequartors, time 3min. 20secs.: ran second in tho Tasmanian T.C. Handicap, ono mile and a-half ; won tho Weld Stakes, one milo and three-quarters, time 3min. 27secs. As a four-year-old, ho won the great four-year-old Handicap in Melbourne in a cantor, and finished third in tho Free Handicap at the same meeting, having met and defeated some of tho finest horses in tho Colonies.
