ARRIVALS

October. 17—Omapcre, s.s., from Port Chalmers, Lyttolton, and Wellington. Passengers —Messrs Boyd and Maxwell.

DEPARTURES,

October. 17—Southern Cross, s.s., for Gisborne and Auckland. Passengers — Messrs A McLean, A. Padula, Fox, S. Kelly, and Smith. 17—Omapere, s.s., for Auckland direct.

The Union Company's steamer Southern Cross, Capt. Ross, steamed for Gisbornc and Auckland from the wharf at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. The same Company's steamer Omapcre, Capfc. Allman, from Southern ports, dropped anchor in the roadstead at 2.130 p.m. yesterday, and was at once tendered by the launch Boojum for her inward m lils and passengers, and by the ketch Three Brothers for her cargo, which proved to consist of some 40 tons, including a large quantity of transhipment goods ex British Queen. The following is a report of the Omapcre's passage up the coast, kindly furnished by Mr Mathie, her purser :—Left Port Chalmers on the Mth instant at 10 a.m., and arrived at Lyttelton at G a.m. ontho loth ; left again the same day at 3 p.m., and arrived at Wellington at 9 a.m. on the 16th ; left again at 4 p.m. that day, arriving hero as above. The launch took the outward mails and clearance off at 8 o'clock last night, the Omapere steaming for Auckland direct at S.-'iO p.m. The steamer Maori, Captain Anderson, left Wairoa at 8 a.m. this day on her return passage, and should get in port early this afternoon. The Union Company's s.s., Ringarooma, Capt. Carey duo here on Saturday next from Sydney, was to have left Auckland at midday to-day, and will be in the roadstead by daylight. Her time of departure for Southern ports and Melbourne is 2 p.m. on Saturday. The steamer Kiwi, from Wellington and tho coast, did not turn up this morning as anticipated. She will, in all probability, arrive by the first thing to-morrrw morning, and would in that case sail again for Wellington iifc 5 p.m. to-morrow. The p.s. Manaia, Capt, Baxter, is not expected to u-et away for Wairoa uniil tomorrow night. She will call in at Wh.ikaki when down this trip.
